Like The Ship of the Unforgotten, it is a first-draft version and so it's had only very minimal editing over what was originally published here on the site when it was written. It's not off my radar by any means though, and a rewrite is in the plan.

Here's a short update for tonight. I wrote more than this, but a good chunk of it was from an upcoming chapter I'm not ready to post just yet.
I've figured out what bothers me about a lot of my own writing, and that's that I usually jump right into stories without a clear picture in my head of what the story actually is.
Sometimes this approach works pretty well; I'm happy with how The Ship of the Unforgotten turned out, for instance. Sometimes stories just drag on forever though. That's starting to happen more and more with The Price of Entanglement, so today I sat down and put some pressure on the vague ideas I've got to crystallize them into something I can really focus on.

I may end up refining and improving that as I go, but that feels like a pretty solid and interesting core to me. Tomorrow I should be able to move on with that at the center of my efforts.
I signed up last night for Robert J. Sawyer's A Thematic Approach to Science Fiction workshop. I'm looking forward to this in a big way, as he's been one of my favorite writers for longer than I care to think about just now. An unfortunate side effect is that I've been over-preparing outlines and stuff all day, and so I don't have any new story parts to post tonight.
The good news is the workshop is at the end of the month, so hopefully soon I'll become that much better at what I'm trying to do.
I'm not sure what form the workshop takes, but it's several hours long so it should be fun to find out. I've heard nothing but good things about RJS' workshops, and it's been a LONG time since I did one.
The next part of the story is up; Jo dives into the weird files she discovered in the archives and gets the feeling someone knows more than they're letting on.
